The South Korean food tech company, Armored Fresh (CEO Luna Oh), has recently developed a new vegan cheese called "American Slice" based on oat milk, which is free from concerns about nut allergies. This development is part of their expansion into the food distribution services in the United States.

Armored Fresh, which launched its own cubed vegan cheese based on almond milk in 2021, took its first steps into the global market the following year, based in New York City. In July, the company began selling its 'American Slice' vegan cheese, which is aimed at North American consumers, to 170 stores of Kroger, the largest supermarket chain in the United States, and is actively expanding its overseas business. In addition, focusing on the demand for more versatile cheese as a food ingredient, we started supplying Slutty Vegan, a popular vegan burger restaurant chain in the United States, and entered the B2B business in earnest.
Armored Fresh has developed a new oat milk-based American Slice to expand its food service channel. The product is aimed at consumers who may not be able to consume traditional almond milk-based vegan cheeses due to nut allergies. As the company's vegan cheeses are used in a variety of North American quick-serve dishes, such as toast and sandwiches, diversifying the product's ingredients offers consumers more choice.
After a year of research and development, we've created a heavy body that closely resembles animal cheese, while further enhancing its flavor and quality. The melting properties of the original almond milk "American Slice" have also been reproduced. With a unique taste and flavor that is not at all inferior to regular cheese, it can be used as an accompaniment to various dishes.
With the launch of this new product, Armored Fresh plans to expand into the B2B channel. As there is a growing demand for vegan cheeses in large restaurants and restaurants in the U.S., the company plans to increase accessibility by improving taste and quality. On the 25th (local time), the company also participated in the Fancy Food Show, the largest food expo in the United States, and introduced various cheeses including the new product.
Sara Jo, the team leader of Armored Fresh's alternative food division, stated, "According to the global market research firm Data Bridge Market Research, the vegan cheese market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 23.5% and reach approximately $4.4 billion by 2029. There is a strong worldwide interest in plant-based cheese." She further added, "Starting with our oat milk-based new product, we will make comprehensive efforts in product research, development, and expanding distribution networks to increase our engagement with a larger consumer base."
